Answer Jesus’ call to “go and make disciples…teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mt 28:19-20)
The idea. In 2009, Dr. Peter Williamson, co-editor of the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture series, began to discuss and pray with laity and clergy about how to help Catholics know God and his Word in the Sacred Scriptures.
Multiplying by sharing. In 2019, after a decade of ministry in Michigan, we began to share our comprehensive, Scripture-centered approach and curriculum with groups and individuals.
From the heart and mind of Church. The Catholic Biblical School Ministry is a lay apostolate, officially entrusted by ordained clergy with the specific ministry of biblical faith formation.
Our funding. The Catholic Biblical School Ministry is funded through donations and freewill suggested contributions for events/classes. We are an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, listed in the Official Catholic Directory.
The need. For disciples of Jesus to bear fruit, the Church teaches that we must be nourished from the wellspring of Sacred Scripture — far too many Catholics live life merely dipping their toes into this wellspring, rather than soaking in the Scriptures.

Your witness matters. While administration and facilitation are part of many pastoral ministry roles, your theological formation and the charisms the Holy Spirit pours out in you, matter. Our resources empower you to inspire, teach, and catechize from the Divine Wellspring of the Sacred Scriptures. Unleash the authenticity of live teaching from the Bible in your setting. Learn more >>
When a live teacher isn’t available, but someone to facilitate discussion is, parishes and ministries use these videos to offer Biblical School Satellite Groups (and small groups that meet in homes can use them too). Unlike an on-demand video series, the Catholic Biblical School instructor giving your lecture is available for weekly, live video-conference Q&A to support your faith formation journey. Learn more >>
Running from mid-September to mid-May each year, the class includes pre-recorded video lecture and options to join a virtual small group, share written journal reflections directly with your teacher, and participate in live, weekly Q&A with your teacher. Learn more >>
Reading the Bible isn’t a race, nor is it a one-time class. The Scriptures are a wellspring for daily prayer, a place to hear God’s voice in our ordinary lives. The Biblical School community offers connection to others on the same journey. Learn more >>
The Word of God is a “wellspring where Christ awaits us to enable us to drink of the Holy Spirit.”
“Access to Sacred Scripture ought to be open wide to the Christian faithful.“
Catechism of the Catholic Church
“Catechesis must be impregnated and penetrated by the thought, spirit and the outlook of the Bible…through assiduous contact with the texts themselves.”
Catechesi Tradendae
Real effort so that “as many…as possible will be able effectively to provide the nourishment of the Scriptures for the people of God to…set men’s hearts on fire with the love of God.”
